Junior Open Day 2011
This years Junior Open Day held on the 4th June went off very well, we had some great weather and the 50 or so children that turned up all caught with the biggest weight on the day being just over 60lbs. We also had two special guests, Mr Alex Bones and Mr Adam Rooney from Guru/Korda who did us the honour of going round the water to try and help as many children as they could to catch more fish by some small ajustments to their rigs. At the end of the day Alex and Adam presented the prizes to the winners and each child also received a pen and a medal to remember the day.

Top up at Sandymoor
Wednesday 20th April 2011 at 08.00 this morning we introduced 5000 F1's and 100 Barbel. The thinking behind this was to top up what the Cormorants may have taken over the winter period because up to the installation of the over head wires with the balls on, we were getting between 9 to 12 visiting each day. As for the Barbel, the E.A have allowed us to put them in on a trial bases because of the number of aerators we have on the water, making conditions better for them. If all works out, we may be able to put some more in, in the future. Just one note for the matches is that because of the Barbels size at present, they should not be held in keep nets during a match.

Sandymoor Top Up
It has been decided that due to the number of Cormorants visiting Sandymoor earlier in the year we should top up the fish population with 5000 F1's from 3 to 4 inches and because we now have the new aerators working the E.A have given us permission to introduce 100 Barbel to about 6 inches as a trial to see if they can survive for any period of time. As for the Cormorants, you may have seen what we are hoping will be their new deterrent, the poles with the cords and the coloured balls. Lets hope they do their job.

The New Bridge
The new bridge was completed just over a month ago when it got it's final coat of paint and we are hoping it will stand for longer than the wooden one which was put in place at the beginning of the eighties. Feed back from the members would appear to be very positive because for some 'It saves that long walk round when you only want to get to the other side of the bridge'. Thanks must be given to the lads who gave thier time up each day during the construction, in particular Head Bailiff Jimmy Gaynor and committe members Jimmy Hackney and Joe Shaw. If there was anybody else that I don't know of, I hope that Jimmy would thank them on our behalf.
